Introduction:

Diabetes is a metabolic condition in which there's abnormally a high glucose level in the blood due to less Insulin Hormone. When you eat food, your body breakdown the food into glucose (a type of sugar). Glucose is the main source of energy for your cells. Insulin is a hormone that helps your cells to absorb glucose from blood. When a person has diabetes, his body eiither doesn’t make enough insulin or doesn’t use the way it should.

Diabetes is one of the most common disease, according to WHO (World Health Organization) an estimated 422 Million people had diabetes in 2014 and is expected to have this number to rise 642 Million in 2040.

There are two types of diabetes:

Type-1:

Its an autoimmune disease which means your cells that produce Insulin in Pancreas are attacked and destroyed by your immune system. In this type , the patient needs to take insulin injections daily to manage blood sugar level.

Type-2:.

Type 2 diabetes is a common type which is caused by combination of lifestyle and genetics factors for example family history, being obese (over weight) or not getting regular exercise. Many of people having Type 2 Diabetes manage their blood sugar level with diet and regular exercise, but many of them also need to take insulin injections or medications. 

Symptoms of Diabetes:

Signs and symptoms can be depend upon the type of diabetes but most common are as below:

• Thirst

• Frequent urination

• Fatigue

• Slow healing of wounds

• Extreme hunger

• Weight loss

• Recurring Infections

• Itching.

There is no cure for diabetes but can be managed by proper diet, regular exercise routine checkup. It can be managed by medication and insulin injections. The goal of patient should be to keep his blood sugar level as close to normal. By managing the blood sugar level one can prevent the complications of diabetes which are kidney failure, heart attack, nerves damage, blindness.

You can manage it by own as well as by medication prescribed by the doctor. By following the below points you can manage your blood sugar level.

1. By having healthy diet, fruits, vegetables, whole grain bread and limiting processed food, sugary drinks and unhealthy fats etc .

2. By regular exercise, it lower the blood sugar level and reduces the risk of complications. The goal should be of 30 mints exercise daily.

3. By taking proper medications prescribed by the doctor, depending upon the type of diabetes, you have to take oral medicine or injections daily at a proper time before or after meal. 

4. Get proper checkup of eyes, foot and kidney. Which will ensure you that diabetes either effecting other parts of body or not. It will also detect any problem early.

5. Monitor your blood sugar level, by checking it 4 times a day you will be able to know that  our treatment plan is responding. 

Why Diabetes is becoming more common in Children:

In United States, type 1 diabetes increased in number of childrens by 30% since 2000. This may be due to combination of lifestyle and genetics factors or environment factors.

Is there any type 3c diabetes? 

There is a type of diabetes called 3c diabetes caused by damage to pancreas due to chronic conditions as cystic fibrosis or pancreatitis. 

A new treatment for type 1 diabetes:

A treatment for type 1 diabetes is islet cells transplantation , it is a surgery in which islets of Langerhans ( which are the cells in pancreas that produce insulin) are transplanted in a type 1 diabetic patient from a donor. Its a new experimental treatment but it has potential to cure type 1 diabetes.
